Boombox Heroes – #1 Cover Band

Lets Rock! #1 Cover Band Boombox Heroes. Bring the Rock Stars to your party!

What to Look Out for When Choosing a Wedding Band?

Booking the right band is one of the most important decisions you’ll make for your wedding day. Here are a few key things to watch for when comparing your options—so you don’t end up with a cookie-cutter experience.

⚠️ “Pick Your Own Lineup” Isn’t Always a Good Thing

Some wedding bands and agencies advertise options like “build your own band” or “choose your musicians”. It sounds flexible, but often it means they’re cobbling together a group of players who may have never met—let alone performed together.

Without that chemistry, it can feel sloppy and disconnected.

Worse, many agencies use the same band name to send out multiple different groups on the same night—sometimes 4 or 5 "versions" of the band. So the band you see in the promo video may not be the band that shows up at your wedding.

⚠️ Watch for Hidden Fees

Some companies have extra charges that aren’t clear upfront. These can include:

  • Additional setup fees (if they need to arrive early)

  • Travel fees

  • Hotel costs for musicians (even when the musicians don’t end up using them! - THEY KEEP THE $)
Be sure to get a complete quote with no surprises.

⚠️ Ask Which Singers and Musicians You’re Actually Getting

Agency bands often rotate their singers and musicians. You could book a band thinking you’re getting one lineup, only to find out they subbed in someone last minute who’s still learning the material. Sometimes those musicians rely on iPads to read lyrics or charts during your event.

👉 Always ask which specific singers will be at your wedding—and confirm they’ll have everything memorized, not reading off screens.

Many of these agencies have even called us in emergencies to send talent to fill in the day of for there unprepared singers and save the wedding day - (so we know)

🎉 Boombox Heroes: The Band That Brings the Party—Your Party!
When you book Boombox Heroes, you’re getting a band that’s invested in your wedding, your story, and your day. One band, one focus: YOU.

⚠️ Don’t Be Fooled by Polished "Promo Videos"

Many bands showcase highly produced promo videos filmed in perfect studio conditions. The audio is often recorded separately, mixed, and edited until it sounds flawless—but it’s not always an honest representation of what they deliver live.

At the actual event, you could end up with different musicians, a weaker sound, and performers relying on iPads.

👉 Always look for real LIVE videos—where you can hear the crowd, feel the energy, and see the band in action.

⚠️ That Song List? It Might Not Be What You Actually Hear

Many agencies show you a long, impressive song list when you book. You might even spend time curating your dream setlist with their producer. But here’s the catch: once you book, they often just play the songs their singers already know— (or at least half know by reading off the ipad) regardless of what you selected. So you end up with the same generic wedding playlist they use at every event because it’s easier for them, and they won’t even tell you in advance.

👉 At Boombox Heroes, we fully customize and curate the setlist to fit your personality and what represents you as a couple. We take the time to learn your favorite songs and bring your vision to life on stage. Whether you want dance hits, indie gems, classic throwbacks, or something totally unique—we make it happen.

⚠️ Watch Out for the “One-Stop Shop” Sales Pitch

Some agencies promote bundled packages that include photography, videography, DJs, and photo booths, advertising themselves as a “one-stop shop” with supposed discounts.

While it might seem like a convenient, cost-effective option, these packages are often more about maximizing their profit than delivering quality.

In many cases, they subcontract out these services to the cheapest vendors they can find, who may not be up to the standard you expect for such an important day.

These subcontractors often have little connection to the agency—and even less to you. The result? Impersonal service, inconsistent quality, and a wedding experience that can feel generic or rushed.

What looks like a “deal” can end up costing you more in stress, disappointment, and even money, compared to hiring trusted, dedicated professionals who are personally invested in your day.
